My musical journey started early in life. When I was a young child, I had a flair for the dramatics and loved to get dressed up and sing for my family. With it being the early 2000s my parents heard a lot of Brittney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, and Faith Hill. While I didn't have the best teachers during elementary school, I continued loving to sing as I grew. I started singing at church around 11 or 12. I loved being able to worship, and it was at this time I got a few solos and a spot on our small worship team. As the years went by, I stayed on the worship team and began singing in choir during high school. It was at this point my love for music really began to grow. I soon began college and I originally was going to do Elementary Education with a music minor. But as my sophomore year draws near I decide to change my major to Music Education, as I realized that was what my passion was. I am now a senior who will student teach in just a few short months. It's been a wild journey with lots of ups and downs, but it has been a great experience with so many people supporting me throughout. I can now so I am so excited (although equally as nervous) to actually get in a classroom and teach. I only hope I can be the music teacher I didn't have in school during my early years.
I am very familiar with the use of Microsoft Office, Google Docs/Slides/Drive and I am becoming more familiar with MuseScore. I have used Music Tech Teacher, Music Ace Maestro, and Flipgrid in previous classes. I have used Canva in the past to create flyers and social media posts. I also know how to use social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat.
I think a weakness I have is I have not truly looked into all the technologies that are out there for use. I am looking forward to learning more about technologies I can use in my future classroom.
